Reminiscent of Solaris - a planet that manipulates desire, what we see is a luna landscape terraformed by a desire that is ommitted. Moreover, it is the spectator's desire that has been omitted, both the viewer and the lost sex act complicit in the pseudo-sexual motion of the shifting terrain. We are invited to imagine what is missing and transfer that onto/into what we see: solar winds and sea sounds as the occassional wave cracks against pebbles, sometimes a crack coinciding with the sink or swell of the waterbed's surface as if the ground itself is breaking.
ReplyDeleteAnd off-screen, on the bed, a couple fucking, an ameteur sex-tape, their own imaginary landscapes, dreams of voyeurism producing the surface at which we stare, a monotonous surface that laboriously shifts and cracks. The dreams that produce the ameteur sex-tape, the frenzy of sex, redirected into the slow shifting surface of a barren luna horizon and the void in the imagination of a spectator who doesn't see.
Finally, and as if bored of itself, the planet spews. Fast text, quicker than the eye can be expected to catch, as if the sped-up end credits of a film that's eager to end. A long dull period then a sudden rush - a functional climax that cums to end the interminable. Words from a cam sex-chat, anonymous names and socially-void sex-talk projected onto an omitted model. web-debris adrift in cyber-space, left to appear in a foreign context, an alien desire that can never make contact. Finally, credits done, video ends. Abrupt silence.
